NAMI Rhode Island was founded in 1983 by family members of people with serious mental illness as a grassroots, volunteer organization dedicated to improving services for persons who are diagnosed with mental illness. Today, we support education, research and other efforts to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and prevent discrimination against consumers of mental health services and their families. We envision a future in which there is greater understanding of these common health disorders and significant progress toward cures.
NAMI Rhode Island is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that depends on charitable support, memberships, grants and volunteers. Contributions to NAMI Rhode Island are tax deductible.
